Again we have decided to stay a second night here too. Packing seems so unproductive and having found a nice place it makes sense to make the best of it. Dinner will be a minor problem as Le Chateau LeTour is a dinner free zone on Sundays.
Our tour takes us to the flea market at nearby Remily and then on to Bourbon Lancy for a first rate lunch at La Grignotte. The day is hardly warm but pleasant for riding through really spectacular rural countryside.
Overall a first rate day.
Our final stop of the day is at Paray-le-Monail where we are collected by M. & Mme. Montauzan, a fine older couple. M is entranced by the bikes and after some discussion invites us in for cake and a drink at their home. They then take us for a tour of the basilica and the highlights of the town centre. Frankly we were quite overcome.
Returning to Fours we go two up on the Spyder to Semelay to Le Clos de la Bussiere which offers a single - no choice - dinner (omelet, chipps, meats, salad, red berry desert) which is just HUGE. There is a local gaelic like band playing (complete with bagpipes) and adds so much character. We are sat at a communal table and just immersed in the local atmosphere, I am obliged to wonder what the Americans from the Mercure would make of it.
