Regrettably breakfast at the Albergo Fiorentino is a sparse affair with machine coffee and a poor selection of bread and ham. It's a shame but the owner makes up for the breakfast as we are leaving as he is most impressed by the Spyder and gives us a route down to Lago Trasimeno. He could not have been more helpful.
Lunch at the tourist infested Cortona is also pretty good and reasonably priced as is coffee on the shores of Lago Trasimeno. We've noticed that prices have decreased phenomenally from Florence (the same tea and expresso now cost around €2 as opposed to €20 in the centre of Florence. No surprise but hardly acceptable you'd think).
The roads have been in the main quiet although that has not stopped the mad drivers and the road surface off the main routes is just appalling. The best news is that the weather has moved to sunny and pleasantly warm which is just great. Loving it
Curious around Deruta there were three areas which had been decorated, one red (mainly poppies) one yellow (mainly sunflowers) and one blue bunting. No idea why.
Luckily the Relais & Spa La Corte di Bettona in Bettona has a room with a small window and spectacular view of Umbria available. Luckily was it's quite late and we have done enough.
The hotel offers a very nice meal after a drink in the square. This is certainly a nice quiet town in a fabulous location. A very nice French couple are the only other guests at dinner with their baby ‘John’ (4 months old and pretty keen to get walking.
