A good breakfast followed by a unplanned trip around Feisole (due to a diversion for a cycle race) then on to Arezzo via the back roads is great fun although the road surface is really poor in parts.
We are stopped by police in Poppi but we knew all was well when one of them took a picture of Mary's Spyder with his cell phone. Despite the help of another biker and a phone call to the local nick we were none the wiser as to what they wanted. My guess is that we were just too hard to deal with.
As we arrive in Arezzo the heavens open and the predicted showers seem to turn into persistent rain. Re-grouping after a good look around the old town we head directly to Sansepolcro to find a hotel on the worst road surface we have seen in a long time. Pot holes, cracks, uneven, wrong camber, puddles, this has it all. Horrid.
The Albergo Fiorentino is modestly priced but clean with a garage although we are up at least two floors.
Curiously the population of Sansepolcro appear to spend several hours per night promenading back and forth through the old town. We watch them for at least an hour before retiring and eating at the Al Coccio (local specialties) which is pretty good.
